Joy in a line

If I were to live my life
in catfish forms
in scaffolds of skin and whiskers
at the bottom of a pond
and you were to come by
one evening
when the moon was shining
down into my dark home
and stand there at the edge
of my affection
and think, "It's beautiful
here by this pond.I wish
somebody loved me,"
I'd love you and be your catfish
friend and drive such lonely
thoughts from your mind
and suddenly you would be
at peace,
and ask yourself, "I wonder
if there are any catfish
in this pond? It seems like
a perfect place for them."

- Richard Brautigan
Who wouldn't adore this? It is everything a poem should be for you and me. Simple, sweet and heartwarmingly kind. Yes I think it's a kind poem more than anything. Lifts me up and curls up my lips. And that's all I need to be happy for now.

  1. I dont really understand poetry...but i love the ones that have so much meaning and yet so simple.

Thank you so much for being here. You must know that I love reading your comments more than I love the idea of baby bunnies eating frosted cupcakes sitting atop a cloud. They make me happy when skies are blue, yellow, pink or grey. ♥
